This Riad was fantastic- easily one of our favorite memories in Morocco. My partner and I felt like we were in a palace, and felt comfortable and welcome at all times. The inner courtyard was absolutely beautiful- literally one of the most tranquil comfortable places I have ever seen. All mosaics and grapefruit trees and birds. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, plenty of hot water, and privacy. Staff were also great- they waited up for us until midnight on our arrival night because we were running late, and were generally very friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure to get to know Jalal, who was overseeing the riad at the time.

One failing was the lack of an obvious central area for socialising, reading etc - we went to other Riads in Fez where there were armchairs etc in the central courtyard. The lack of these at our Riad (they were only tucked away in darker alcoves) made it feel less sociable than the others and made us less likely to meet other guests.

Mr Bernard and Mr Jaleel were good hosts being friendly and very helpful. They are maintaining the Riad in Fez beautifully and perk up our interest in Moroccon arts and craft. We have memorable stay in Fez.

Just a 10-15 minute walk from the Talaa Seghira, this is in a great location. Quiet at night and easy to find in the every-confusing medina. The bed was a little hard, but ok. The staff was great. Jelal was fantastic, always eager to answer questions and his explanation of the city upon our arrival was enlightening and extremely useful. M. Pelay was a gracious host (thanks for the taste of the local wine!). The only downside to this is that they bring you to the riad to check in. Once you've been there (and, as we had been, in a very nice riad in Marrakech), the Jnane seems spartan. Not necessarily a bad thing, but the accommodations were just pretty basic. Also, our shower did not drain, which caused the bathroom to flood pretty badly. Overall, a nice place with a great location. Good staff, but we stayed in a much nicer place in Marrakesh for less money.

Just for the travelers to know: this is not a ryad, this is a family house converted into B&B. It has a nice sitting area on the roof though. The plumbing, paint, furniture etc are quite a bit run down, but OK. To use internet you need to go to the main office, ryad Souaffine, about 5 min away.
