The riad has been lovingly renovated and beautifully decorated to create a contemporary yet comfortable home for visitors to Marrakech. Traditional Moroccan materials and craftsmanship have been used to great effect and there are all the modern refinements guests would expect such as air conditioning, free WiFi Internet access and iPod docking stations.
The riad is perfectly located in a well lit and easy to find derb, close to Bab Ksour and only two minutes from the Place Jemaa el Fna or the entrance to the souks. The nearest vehicular access is 50 metres from the front door and Riad Bel Haj is also close to the shops and restaurants of modern day Marrakech in the Gueliz district.
Each of the four bedrooms is decorated with simple charm and authenticity. The subtle mix of traditional influences and contemporary ideas creates an overall style that is chic yet comfortable and unpretentious. The colours are quiet and restful with mainly white walls and extensive use of tadelakt - the traditional Moroccan polished plaster finish used for walls, floors and bathrooms. Each room has its own bath or shower room with WC and basin and there is plenty of storage space. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and are equipped with an iPod docking station and a safe for personal effects.

| The lovely staff in the Riad could not have made our stay any better. they were all very kind and unobtrusive, therefore allowing my husband and I to fully relax. Should we return to Marrakech then we would stay in a Riad again. We have been to the Bel Haj twice now and loved it. | ||

| Really enjoyed our time at Riad Bel Haj and can't praise the staff enough. Our first visit to Marrakech and Morocco was memorable. As a result we can't wait to go back. Our flight arrived on time but problems with processing meant we were nearly two hours late. However the taxi and meal arranged with Riad Bel Haj were there ready and waiting. Throughout our visit we visit we were well looked after by all concerned. The Riad itself was great introduction to Marrakech. I was so glad we chose it over a hotel whatever it's facilities. The terrace was great and we took every opportunity to get up there. The plunge pool was a welcome cooler after a day walking about. Location was good as it was a 5 minute walk to the main square and all its sounds, sights, smells and taxi's. I would have no problem recommending this Riad to friends and family. | ||

| Overall we had an enjoyable stay at this lovely Riad. My only comments relate to the convenience of communication facilities. We had problems with cancelled flights when we were due to leave Morrocco. Although the staff were sympathetic to our issues the fact that we had to cross the medina to another Riad to access the internet and go to another to use a phone verged on the ridiculous. I am aware that many travellers now have all kinds of portable communication devices but not all. Lastly I would like special mention of Marion who looked after us very well during our stay. Yours sincerely, Peter Bownes | ||

| I am surprised that the Riad Bel Haj scores only two stars. We had an amazing stay there; the staff were lovely, friendly people, who couldn't have been more helpful. We will definately return there. Marakesh was the most wonderful city, that was overwhelming for someone who lives in a small Scottish village, but amazing! | ||
