Located next to the Medersa Ben Youssef, the Museum of Marrakesh is housed in the Dar M’Nebhi Palace and is one of the most beautiful structures remaining from the end of the nineteenth century. Contemporary art expos of photography, paintings and ceramics are housed on a regular basis with one large thematic exposition. Covered by a domed tent supported with columns, the large courtyard measures over 2000 square meters. Artfully hidden in the medina, the palace is a must see!
Museum of the Friends of Marrakech
The Museum of the Friends of Marrakech is situated in a 19th century riad that has been spectacularly restored. Works by Marrakechi artists is presented through expositions of jewelry, ceramics, clothing, manuscripts… There are also temporary contemporary art expositions that change on a regular basis
Dar Si Saïd museum has a good collection of Moroccan masterpieces. Treasures include expertly crafted silver and Berber jewelry, ancient pottery, intricate chests, worked leather, an impressive collection of carpets..... Fountains sculpted from pink marble decorate the tiled courtyards that are accented by the turquoise, greens and whites of the mosaic designs.
The Islamic Art Museum is located inside of a blue villa in the Majorelle Gardens. There are expositions of tapestries, marriage curtains and fabrics, manuscripts, jewelry….. Children are not allowed.
The Maison Tiskiwin belonged to Mr.Bert Flint, a collector of local Marrakech art. The museum is open to the public and showcases basket works, jewelry, textiles….
Dar Bellarj exhibits traditional Moroccan art and was originally a bird sanctuary where hurt cigognes would rest to recover. The museum offers a good selection of temporary expositions.
