Visitors to Marrakech will be pleasantly suprised with the suprising number of gardens and parks. Lush and spacious the gardens provide a welcome haven from the Moroccan sun. The varied collections of trees and fauna are quite elaborate as they come from all over the world from admirers of Marrakech.

Jasmine, honeysuckle and the strong aroma of the famous Marrakech roses will overtake your senses once you venture into the La Palmeraie. A sanctuary of calm and beauty covers 13,000 hectares of vegetation with 180,000 palm trees and includes a world class golf course. This haven is watered by means of an ingenious collecting and channeling system of spring water that has been in place since 1106.

Privately owned and maintained by the fashion designer Yves St-Laurent, the Majorelle Gardens are exquisite and include pools, banana trees, coconut palms, bougainvilleas that are accentuated with the blue wash that covers the paths, pavilions and garden walls.

The Menara Gardens are on the Menara Avenue and are the easiest gardens to access in Marrakech. Many Marrakechis come here to relax and take a break from the Moroccan sun. The gardens are located 2 km from la Koutoubia. Today the gardens are open to the public but were historically enjoyed only by the sultans.
